Amy Hunt continued her strong late-season form by finishing third in the 200-meter race at the Diamond League final in Brussels, clocking a season's best time of 22.16 seconds.

The time was just eight hundredths of a second shy of her lifetime best. Hunt was beaten by St. Lucia's Julien Alfred, who won the race in 21.79 seconds, and American Kayla White, who finished second in 22.00 seconds.

"I'm really really proud of that one," Hunt told BBC World Service. "That was probably one of the best bends I've ever done, if not the best. I could feel I was so close to Julian, then the long season kind of caught out to me in the last 20 metres."

The third-place finish marks an upward trajectory for Hunt in the elite circuit, following fifth and sixth-place finishes in the 2025 and 2024 Diamond League finals over 200m respectively.

Hunt is also scheduled to compete in the 100m event on Saturday night, where she will face American Olympic silver medalist Sha'Carri Richardson. She plans to compete in both events at the upcoming Ultimate Championships in Budapest, which begin on September 11.

Her training regimen, which includes long repetitions with minimal recovery, allows her to manage a demanding schedule. "We train over 400 metres and the longest recovery we have in winter sessions is 45 seconds," Hunt explained. "I'm out there doing the really long reps back to back to back and that's enabling me to do this really packed schedule."

Hunt was the highest-placed British athlete in Brussels. Other British competitors included Matt Hudson-Smith, who finished fifth in the 400m, and Jake Hayward, who was eighth in the 1500m race.

In other events, world champion Oblique Seville won the 100m in 9.90 seconds, and Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi secured his fourth consecutive Diamond League title in the 800m. Emmanouil Karalis of Greece won the pole vault with a clearance of 6.12 meters after Sweden's Armand Duplantis withdrew due to leg tightness. Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles has ended his season early due to injury and will miss the Ultimate Championships.
