Alexis Lafrenière Aims for Consistency in Seventh NHL Season with Rangers

Alexis Lafrenière, the first overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, is entering his seventh season with the New York Rangers with the aim of achieving greater consistency. Lafrenière is coming off a career-high 57-point season, which included a strong finish to the 2023-2024 campaign where he recorded 33 points in the final 35 games. This late-season surge offered a glimpse of his potential, following a promising performance in the Rangers' run to the Eastern Conference Final, where he scored eight goals and 14 points in 16 playoff games.

However, Lafrenière has experienced similar promising surges in the past that did not translate into sustained performance. After a strong postseason showing two years ago, he earned a seven-year contract extension but saw his production dip in the subsequent season, falling short of the high expectations associated with his draft position. He now finds himself on the Rangers' top line, presented with another opportunity to redefine his legacy with the team.
