Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed his disappointment after being left out of the squad for the recent World Cup, an event he had hoped to participate in under Thomas Tuchel.

"I'll be honest, I was full of hope," Alexander-Arnold said of his anticipation before receiving the call from Tuchel. "When I put the phone down, I was properly gutted. I hope the coaching staff would expect and understand that I was angry."

His last appearance for England was as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over Andorra in June 2025. Despite the setback, Alexander-Arnold remains committed to the national team.

"He [Tuchel] wants players who are desperate to play for England. I am one of those," he insisted. "Until I retire, I'm still an England player, whether I'm selected or not. I'm always available if and when the manager needs me. There's no bigger honour."

Alexander-Arnold watched the entire World Cup tournament and stated that his determination to return to international duty has not waned. He plans to channel his disappointment into a positive force for the upcoming season.

"I want to use it as fuel to get back into England squads and then back in an England shirt. That's an aim of mine and I hope to achieve it," he stated.

Alexander-Arnold also mentioned that he continues to face online abuse from some Liverpool fans following his transfer to Real Madrid 14 months ago.
