All Elite Wrestling stars Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are scheduled to defend their AEW World Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks at the upcoming All In event. The match is set to take place on August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London.
Copeland, who recently spoke about his tag team championship run with Cage, highlighted that facing The Young Bucks was a long-standing goal since joining AEW. He noted that the team of Matt and Nick Jackson were on his list of desired opponents, a list that also included specific venues like Arena México.
"Oh, they've been on the list from the time that any kind of reality of me and AEW started to come to fruition," Copeland told Fox News Digital. "FTR, Young Bucks, team-wise, like, those are like got to do that, have to do that. They were definitely on the list, but also too, didn't fully know if Christian and I, were going to get back to teaming."
Copeland and Cage, reuniting as a tag team for the first time in 25 years, captured the tag team titles by defeating FTR in an "I Quit" match at the Double or Nothing event. Copeland expressed his satisfaction with the current tag team run, emphasizing that it aligns with his initial intentions for joining AEW.
"Just fun and exactly the type of reason I came to AEW is to go after these things that I still wanted to go after but I knew weren't going to be possible unless I made that that move and to get a chance to team with him and totally recreate the team and not have it just be the thing we used to do," Copeland explained. "It's like we're a team again, but we're an entirely different team and we should be because we've experienced so much and gone through so much throughout our careers that we bring all of that now and to just go and try and rehash the chump stain stuff, I don't know, it almost be a disservice to us."
He further elaborated on how the team has evolved, noting that they have intentionally avoided developing a traditional finishing move. Instead, their strategy has involved an element of surprise and adaptation, such as the "pop-up spear" they first tested in London.
The partnership between Copeland and Cage was solidified following a match against Jon Moxley, which served as the catalyst for their reunion as a tag team.
