Aaron Donald's wife, Erica Donald, has once again playfully addressed the persistent rumors about her husband's potential return to the Los Angeles Rams. She recently shared a meme on her Instagram story featuring basketball player Carmelo Anthony jumping out of his seat, with the caption "Aaron Donald to the Rams once a week." Erica Donald added several laughing emojis, seemingly amused by the ongoing speculation.
The meme and her reaction come after Donald reportedly had an official workout with the Rams, his second "tryout" using team equipment this month. The NFL transaction wire listed this appearance as a "tryout," but it is seen as another step in the three-time Defensive Player of the Year's decision-making process regarding his potential return to the team.
Erica Donald has previously commented on the reporting surrounding her husband's potential comeback. Earlier, after reports of Donald's workouts surfaced, she posted on X, "Y’all gotta start getting this stuff right." Since then, Donald has been observed working out at the Rams' facility, UCLA's football facility, and participating in drills with current Rams defensive players, in addition to his official listing on the NFL transactions report.
Rams head coach Sean McVay acknowledged the workout, stating it was part of Donald's process to gain clarity on his potential return. "It was just a workout," McVay said. "It’s semantical. It’s part of his process that he’s going through. It allows us to be able to use football equipment. … There are a lot of things that you try to mimic and emulate game-like settings and situations to be able to get clarity on whether he wants to do this or not."
McVay also confirmed that the Rams have not set any deadlines for Donald's decision. The team is preparing for their second preseason game against the New Orleans Saints after traveling to Kansas City for their first preseason game against the Chiefs. They are also scheduled for joint practices with the Saints. Donald has ample time to make his decision, and his continued engagement with the team suggests he is nearing a conclusion. The prospect of pairing Donald with Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, is seen as a significant potential boost for the Rams, who are already considered Super Bowl favorites. However, until Donald officially announces his return, the rumor mill is expected to continue circulating, with his wife appearing to enjoy the speculation.
