The return of Los Angeles Rams defensive star Aaron Donald to the NFL remains in limbo as the star player has yet to make a decision on coming out of retirement. Rams head coach Sean McVay indicated Thursday that Donald is likely to undergo additional workouts before the team receives a definitive answer.

Donald, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, has officially worked out for the Rams twice this month, with the most recent session occurring over the weekend. These workouts are being reported due to Donald's use of team equipment, such as helmets and pads.

The 35-year-old announced his retirement following the 2023 season, stating he felt a sense of completion after a decade in the league. However, following the Rams' trade for Myles Garrett, Donald expressed interest in a potential return to the team he played for over ten years. He first publicly addressed contemplating a comeback on "The Pat McAfee Show," and subsequent events have suggested he is seriously considering a return.

Donald was initially spotted working out at the Rams' facility in Woodland Hills, which fueled speculation about a possible comeback. However, weeks have passed without a final decision.

While football fans await news of whether the eight-time All-Pro will indeed return, Donald has been evaluating his body's response to training and is not rushing the process. McVay stated that he and Donald have a "great dialogue" and that the decision will be made "on his timeline." He added that "tentative decisions" have been made behind the scenes, whether the outcome is a "yes" or a "no."
