Aaron Donald has officially announced his return to the Los Angeles Rams, marking an end to his retirement that began after the 2023 NFL season. The star defensive player confirmed his comeback with the phrase, "I’m back!," which has now been featured on a 1-of-1 Topps Now trading card.
Donald spent the summer training and reviewing game film to determine his readiness for an 11th season. He stated that he felt he looked even sharper this time around, observing, "I studied myself to a T. Watched every movement, every cut, every hip flip. In my opinion, I don’t see no difference. If anything, it looked a little cleaner to me."
Following the team's trade for Myles Garrett in June, Donald expressed interest in rejoining the Rams for a final run. He retired as a future Hall of Famer, leaving behind $30 million in potential earnings. Donald has signed a one-year contract worth $20 million, with incentives that could bring the total value up to $30 million.
The Rams now face the decision of whether Donald will be part of the defensive line lineup for the season opener against the 49ers in Australia on September 10.
