A'ja Wilson Secures Record Fifth WNBA MVP Award

Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson has been awarded the 2026 WNBA Most Valuable Player award, marking a historic fifth career MVP honor and becoming the first player in league history to win three consecutive MVP titles. The 30-year-old forward led the league in scoring with an average of 26.2 points per game this season, her second-highest mark in WNBA history. She also recorded nearly 53 percent field goal shooting, averaging 9.4 rebounds, a career-best 3.2 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game.

Wilson's five MVP awards place her among elite company in professional sports. Her total ties her with NFL quarterback Peyton Manning and NBA legends Michael Jordan and Bill Russell. In basketball, only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, with six NBA MVPs, has more.

Wilson received 713 points in the voting, with 65 first-place votes, from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Minnesota's Olivia Miles finished second with 442 points, followed by Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell (287 points) and Caitlin Clark (212 points).

This MVP award adds to Wilson's already decorated career, which includes two WNBA Finals MVP awards and three league championships with the Aces in 2022, 2023, and 2025. The Aces are currently in the WNBA semifinals, though they trail Golden State two games to none in their best-of-five series.
