San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has undergone season-ending surgery for a torn PCL in his knee, according to a social media post from the player.

Pearsall shared an update from his hospital bed Thursday morning, expressing a positive outlook despite the setback. He posted a photo on Instagram with his family, stating, “Nothing to be disappointed about. No regrets. No what ifs. Just peace in the midst of yet another trial, knowing I did everything I could.”

The surgery concludes Pearsall's season, and his focus will now shift to a nine-month recovery period. "The road back starts now. I’m ready for every part of it. Every early morning. Every setback. Every Small win nobody sees. Every step that gets me closer to stepping back on that field,” Pearsall wrote. He also expressed gratitude for the support he has received throughout his NFL career.

Pearsall's journey in the NFL has been marked by injuries since his rookie season in 2024. He has appeared in only 20 games over his first three seasons. This latest knee injury had been bothering him since Week 4 of the previous season, with persistent swelling. He had the option for surgery in February or March but elected to defer the procedure, a decision described as a "calculated risk" that did not result in recovery.

The 49ers and Pearsall opted to hope the knee would heal naturally, but the injury worsened during training camp, leading to the necessity of season-ending surgery.

Pearsall is currently in the final year of his rookie contract, which he signed after being selected 31st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Florida. It remains to be seen whether the team will pursue contract extension discussions with the wide receiver.
