San Francisco 49ers CEO and co-owner John 'Jed' York was arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution in East Palestine, Ohio, on Sunday, August 24, 2026. He was booked into Columbiana County Jail and released later that afternoon on his own recognizance.

York, 46, subsequently pleaded no contest on Monday to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct, with the state of Ohio amending the initial prostitution charge. He was also convicted of one misdemeanor count of possessing criminal tools.

A judge sentenced York to one day in jail for each count, served concurrently. He was ordered to pay a $150 fine for the disorderly conduct conviction and a $1,000 fine for possessing criminal tools.

York, whose legal name is John Edward York, is the son of 49ers co-chairs Denise DeBartolo York and John York. The family acquired control of the team in 2000. Jed York began working for his father in the early 2000s and was named CEO in 2008. He became the principal owner in 2024.

During his tenure, the 49ers have won five NFC West titles, reached seven NFC Championship Games, and appeared in three Super Bowls. The team has not won a Super Bowl since 1994.

York has been married to his wife, Danielle Belluomini, since 2011, and they have two sons. His younger brother, Anthony, died at age 35 in December 2018.

The arrest comes during an offseason that has also seen 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan involved in a car crash on July 14. Shanahan sustained a concussion, broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken hand, and required over 40 stitches for a cut above his eye. He stated the incident occurred when he reached for his phone while driving his Tesla in autopilot mode at approximately 20 mph. Police did not issue him a ticket, and he was the only person hospitalized from the crash.

The 49ers are scheduled to play their opening game of the NFL season against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne on September 10.
