US rocket company Leap is reportedly considering the Sutherland Spaceport in the Scottish Highlands as its first international launch site.
The spaceport, located near Tongue, has been mothballed since its construction. Leap, a Colorado-based firm, is looking to establish a presence outside of the US, and the Highland facility is under consideration.
If Leap were to select Sutherland, it would mark a significant development for the spaceport, which has yet to host a launch. The facility was designed to support small satellite launches, a growing sector of the space industry.
