NASA Unveils Spooky Space Sights for Halloween

NASA has released a collection of cosmic images featuring formations that evoke Halloween themes, including celestial skulls and ghostly eyes, to mark the spooky season. The space agency highlighted several astronomical sights that appear to stare back at viewers, reminding us of the vastness and sometimes eerie beauty of the universe.

Among the revealed images is starburst galaxy NGC 1482, whose two bright, star-like cores resemble glowing eyes against a cosmic backdrop. NASA noted the potential for these distant objects, millions of light-years away, to evoke a sense of being watched.

The collection also features an image of the Sun where active regions have coalesced to create a face akin to a jack-o'-lantern. Another striking image showcases the Perseus Cluster of Galaxies, captured by the Chandra Observatory, where dark bubbles flanking a central X-ray source form a distinct skull shape.

Further celestial curiosities include a region on Mars photographed by NASA's Viking 1 Orbiter in 1976 that bears a resemblance to a human face. Additionally, the Pillars of Creation are presented in a mid-infrared view, revealing towering cosmic dust structures that lend an eerie appearance.
