WHOOP, known for its fitness and sleep tracking wearable, is expanding its health services to include early cancer detection and a broader suite of blood tests. The company announced it will offer access to GRAIL’s Galleri multi-cancer early detection test and make its WHOOP Advanced Labs available without a subscription.
The Galleri test, which can detect cancer signals associated with over 50 types, involves a single blood draw at one of nearly 2,000 Quest Diagnostics locations nationwide. GRAIL analyzes the sample in its North Carolina laboratory, and results are delivered through the WHOOP app alongside other health insights and resources. "By making multi-cancer early detection available through trusted platforms that are part of people’s everyday health journeys, we can help more people take a proactive step toward finding cancer earlier, when treatment may be more effective," said Megan Hall, PhD, Vice President of Medical Affairs at GRAIL.
Beyond cancer screenings, WHOOP Advanced Labs provides additional blood tests focusing on cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal, and inflammatory health. Each test is reviewed by a clinician and is accompanied by personalized recommendations. According to WHOOP, since launching Advanced Labs last year, a significant majority of users have discovered important health information, with over half receiving results that prompted them to schedule follow-up appointments with healthcare providers. Findings have included elevated cardiovascular risk, insulin resistance, prediabetes or diabetes, elevated lipoprotein(a), and hormone-related conditions.
These services are priced competitively, with the cancer screening costing $150, a notable contrast to similar assessments that can exceed $3,000. "A deeper, earlier understanding of our health gives us a greater ability to shape what comes next," stated Dr. Ami Bhatt, Chief Medical Officer at WHOOP. "WHOOP Advanced Labs gives people access to comprehensive, clinically reviewed testing that often isn’t part of a routine physical and historically has been available through concierge medicine, executive physicals, or specialty clinics. By making that level of testing more accessible, we’re helping more people better understand their health and make earlier, more informed decisions."
WHOOP has established a strong reputation with its 24/7 wearable device, which features a 14-day battery life. The device, typically worn on the wrist or arm, collects data on fitness, blood pressure, sleep, recovery, and more. The company reports that consistent users of the WHOOP device log more exercise, sleep longer, and exhibit higher heart rate variability compared to those who do not wear the device daily.
