Toy brand Kiddo World has issued a recall for its popular sensory toy bin, which includes items like glow-in-the-dark stones, magnetic sand, and construction vehicles. The recall is due to concerns that the play sand included in the bin may be contaminated with a small amount of asbestos, a substance known to cause cancer.
Officials are advising parents to immediately stop using the product and keep it away from children. Asbestos is a banned substance, and safety experts state that even low levels of exposure can pose a health risk.
The affected product can be identified by the barcode number 3830086780681. For parents who still have the product in its original packaging, the recommendation is to place the sand in a heavy-duty plastic bag, securely seal it with tape, label it, and store it out of children's reach. If the sand has already been used, individuals are advised to wear gloves and a mask while cleaning any affected areas. The used sand, gloves, mask, and any cleaning materials should then be double-bagged.
