A young Kenyan lawyer is spearheading a legal challenge against the Kenyan government, its regulator, and several multinational agrochemical corporations. The case, supported by activists and health practitioners, alleges that pesticides and herbicides used to enhance agricultural efficiency are harming the health of farmers in Kenya.

The plaintiffs are seeking regulatory changes, increased education for farmers, and compensation for individuals who they claim have suffered severe health consequences due to high exposure to these agricultural products. The legal action has been in development for over a year.

Gathering evidence for the case presents significant challenges for the legal team, health practitioners, and scientists involved. Josephine Casserly from BBC News traveled to Kenya to document the efforts to build support for the lawsuit.
