What Beth, 33, initially dismissed as a mere quirk – her permanently cold fingers – turned out to be the first symptom of a potentially life-threatening autoimmune condition. Doctors first diagnosed her with Raynaud's, a common condition characterized by reduced circulation to the fingers and toes, causing them to become painfully cold. She was advised to stay warm and bundle up.
However, as Beth grew older, her symptoms became more concerning. Around the age of ten, her fingers began to discolour, turning white seemingly without reason. It wasn't until later that the true, more serious cause of her symptoms was uncovered.
