Beverley Callard, the 69-year-old actress known for her role in Coronation Street, has announced she is more than halfway through her radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer. Callard shared her health update on Saturday, revealing she has completed six out of 12 planned radiotherapy sessions.

"Sitting in the garden outside St Luke’s Hospital. Just finished number six. Over halfway!" Callard posted on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself in her garden with her dogs. She had previously outlined her treatment plan, which involves 10 days of radiotherapy with a specific schedule of consecutive treatment days interspersed with a weekend off.

Callard, who moved to Ireland from England, had previously mentioned delays in starting treatment due to the transfer of medical records between countries. Doctors had expressed concern that she should have begun radiotherapy earlier following her diagnosis.

Last month, Callard marked a significant milestone by returning to work on the Irish soap opera Fair City, where she plays Gwen's mother, Lily. She admitted to feeling nervous and on edge about her first day back after four months away for surgery. However, she later reported that filming had gone well, describing the experience as "fantastic" and feeling like she had "never been away."

"As soon as I was in there, you just feel like you've never been away," she said. "It was really good. Everybody was so pleased to see me and I was really pleased to see them. We laughed a lot and got the giggles. It was just fantastic."

Callard received her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year, shortly before she was due to begin filming for Fair City. She returned to the UK for surgery and subsequent treatment.
