Zara Larsson Defends Ticket Prices Amid Tour Cost Concerns
The Swedish singer addressed fan complaints about high ticket costs, explaining that touring revenue often covers extensive production and staffing expenses.
Zara Larsson turned heads in a sheer, polka-dot minidress while in New York City following a chat show appearance. The 28-year-old singer wore a white dress adorned with a large pink flower, paired with bold pink sunglasses and towering clear heels. Her blonde hair was styled in a half-up, waved do as she smiled and waved to fans.
Larsson recently addressed concerns from fans about the high cost of concert tickets, particularly in relation to her ongoing Midnight Sun Tour. In response to a fan on TikTok who commented on the expense of tickets and the disparity between performers' earnings and the financial struggles of everyday people, Larsson stated her agreement.
"I don't want my tickets to be too pricey and I will definitely see what I can do about that!" she wrote. However, she also clarified that her current tour is not a significant source of personal profit. "But right now in my career I'm definitely not making big bucks on touring," she explained.
Larsson elaborated that revenue from touring is largely allocated to covering the costs associated with production, crew members, and transportation. "It's basically a non profit at this point:p everything that I make goes to paying people, transportation, production etc.," she stated. She also noted that while fans often perceive artists to be making substantial money, the reality for many touring acts involves extensive overhead.
The singer's comments came as some resale tickets for her Bangkok concert were priced as high as $340 to $419 USD on platforms like Stubhub, while official Ticketmaster Thailand prices ranged from approximately $84 to $117 USD. For comparison, the average gross monthly income in Thailand is estimated to be around $469 USD.
Resale tickets for her Los Angeles stop in September were listed between $152 and $893 USD on AXS.
Larsson gained recognition in the 2010s with hits like "Lush Life" and "Never Forget You." Her career includes collaborations and releases such as "Ain't My Fault," "I Would Like," "Symphony" (with Clean Bandit), and "Ruin My Life." Her fourth studio album, "Venus," was released in 2024, with a follow-up album, "Midnight Sun," scheduled for September 2025. The title track from her recent LP earned Larsson her first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording.
