William Shatner Honors Patrick Stewart
William Shatner paid tribute to his Star Trek co-star Patrick Stewart, who died at age 86.
William Shatner has shared a heartfelt tribute to his fellow Star Trek actor Patrick Stewart, who died on Wednesday at the age of 86 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy Body dementia. Stewart had been diagnosed with the conditions a short time before his passing.
Shatner, 95, posted on X, formerly Twitter, expressing his grief over the loss of his colleague and friend. "What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor," Shatner wrote. "From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him."
Shatner, who starred alongside Stewart in the 1994 film "Star Trek Generations," stated that he held deep affection and admiration for Stewart's work. He concluded his message by extending his condolences to Stewart's family, writing, "My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed."
