William Daniels, 99, and Bonnie Bartlett, 97, Appear at Hollywood Show Amid Marriage Reflections
The veteran Hollywood couple, celebrating 75 years of marriage, made an appearance at a pop culture expo, with Daniels hinting it might be their last convention.
Hollywood actors William Daniels, 99, and Bonnie Bartlett, 97, were seen attending The Hollywood Show, an autograph and pop culture expo, on Saturday. The couple, who recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, appeared with the assistance of two aides. Daniels, known for his role as Mr. Feeny on "Boy Meets World," used a wheelchair, while Bartlett appeared to use a walker.
A representative for the couple stated that they "had a wonderful time meeting and greeting all their fans" at the event, signing autographs and taking pictures. Daniels, in a social media post, indicated that this convention appearance might be their last, though he noted they would continue to offer personalized video messages through Cameo.
Daniels and Bartlett, recognized as one of Hollywood's most enduring marriages, met at Northwestern University. Their love story began when Daniels, then a student, was captivated by Bartlett's reading during a class. Despite an initial humorous exchange about their heights, their relationship blossomed, leading to their marriage in 1951.
The couple shared insights into their long relationship in their memoirs. Bartlett previously commented on their marriage having periods where their lives "went in different directions," which the press had once characterized as an "open marriage." She clarified that while they never had explicit discussions about such an arrangement, the natural ebb and flow of a long-term relationship, especially with Daniels often away for work, meant they were occasionally attracted to other people. She emphasized that these periods, though sometimes painful, did not lead to their marriage unraveling, stating, "We never got unhinged."
Bartlett and Daniels have portrayed spouses in three different projects, including "Boy Meets World," where their characters married. Daniels, also known for voicing KITT in "Knight Rider," continues to engage with fans through Cameo, fulfilling requests for birthdays, graduations, and pep talks, which Bartlett noted often provide comfort to those seeking advice from his "Mr. Feeney" persona.
