“The White Lotus” will head to the South of France for its fourth season, stars Parker Posey and Jason Isaacs confirmed on the red carpet at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, where the HBO series was otherwise shut out of major prizes.

Posey, who appeared in Season 3 as Victoria Ratliff, told E! News on Sunday that creator Mike White "is in the South of France right now. That’s where Season 4 is going to be." Isaacs, who played Victoria’s husband Timothy, told Entertainment Tonight simply: "It is the South of France."

The confirmations came amid a disappointing night for the anthology drama. Of its 23 total nominations for Season 3, the series failed to win any of the major drama or acting awards, and none of seven supporting-actor nominees — including Isaacs, Posey, Walton Goggins, Sam Rockwell, Carrie Coon, Aimee Lou Wood and Natasha Rothwell — took home trophies. The show also lost Outstanding Drama Series to "The Pitt." The only win tied to the Season 3 campaign was a Creative Arts Emmy for Original Main Title Theme Music, awarded to composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer.

Tapia de Veer, who won the Creative Arts Emmy for the Season 3 title theme, had announced his departure from the series after Season 3 amid a reported feud with White.

Deadline first reported in early September that Season 4 would be set in France; HBO and White have not formally confirmed the location. The first season of "The White Lotus" was set in Hawaii and the second in Italy. HBO programming executive Francesca Orsi previously told Deadline that the series was likely to return somewhere in Europe, and executive producer David Bernad told The Hollywood Reporter that he was "very excited for what Mike is working on and thinking about for season four." Bernad added that the upcoming season would "speak to culture in a way that is going to be relevant," while declining to provide additional details.

On the red carpet, Isaacs and Posey also addressed the likelihood of their characters returning. Posey said she had "no idea if I’m in it," and Isaacs — referencing the Ratliff family’s financial collapse in Season 3 — said, "I don’t think they’re coming back," quipping that the family might be "lucky if they can stay in a Howard Johnson’s."

HBO has used distinct locations as a framing device for each season, with new ensembles and storylines exploring class, privilege and culture in luxury resort settings. The network has so far allowed creator Mike White broad creative latitude, but public details about casting, plot and production timing for Season 4 remain limited.

Industry reaction to the show’s Emmy performance was muted on Sunday night as attendees moved on to other winners. The series’ loss in major categories marks a reversal for a show that was an awards-season favorite in its first two seasons.

As preparations for Season 4 continue, the series’ next steps — including an official confirmation of location from HBO, casting announcements and a production schedule — are expected to be disclosed through the usual trade outlets and studio releases. Producer comments and outlet reports provide the current publicly available roadmap: creator Mike White appears to be working on a France-set installment that, according to producers, will continue the show’s focus on cultural themes within a new European setting.
