VMAs 2026: Fashion Fumbles Light Up the Red Carpet
From daring cutouts to questionable fabric choices, several stars missed the mark on the Video Music Awards' West Coast return.
The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards saw a return to the West Coast, but not all attendees made a sartorial splash on the red carpet. Notable fashion missteps included a range of bold and, in some cases, bewildering ensembles that drew attention for the wrong reasons.
Among those whose outfits garnered critical attention was Real Housewives star Lisa Rinna, 63. She opted for an all-white ensemble featuring a plunging molded breast plate and a flowing skirt with a high slit. Singer Tyla, 24, made a fashion misstep in a blue snakeskin print skirt and bra set, completed with matching accessories.
Filipino-American singer Bella Poarch, 29, confused viewers with a mismatched outfit that appeared to be a patchwork of materials, including lace and ribbon, draped across a tight corset. Turkish rapper and singer Inji, 25, appeared uncomfortable in a brown crocodile-leather-inspired trench coat and matching shorts, paired with purple platform heels.
Singer-songwriter Haiden Henderson, 25, arrived in a chaotic ensemble that featured mismatched pointed-toe boots, tight leather trousers with metallic studs, a denim jacket, and a red cape. TikTok star Jessica Golich, 37, showcased a bold style with clashing colors and patterns, including leopard print pants and silver glitter platform boots.
Internet sensation Savannah Demers, 26, wore a halter mini dress adorned with dimensional flowers. Actress Rachel Dratch, 60, sported a gray dress with an asymmetric hem, a draped overlay, and a bolero, paired with block heels. Singer-songwriter Sombr, 21, revealed his chest in leather pants and an oversized striped fur coat, accessorized with drooping necklaces and a 'sex' belt. Content creator Ashton Ray, 23, also arrived topless, in baggy white pants, a flowing train, and an oversized fur-style coat.
South Korean star Rei Ami, 31, risked a wardrobe malfunction in a daring black macrame-style sheer outfit with an intricate star pattern. The VMAs returned to the West Coast for the first time in nine years, having last been broadcast from Los Angeles in 2017.
