Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Sparks Outrage Over Kylie Jenner's Fantasy Bra Debut

The 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show faced significant backlash Sunday after reality television star Kylie Jenner made her runway debut wearing the brand's iconic, gemstone-encrusted $50 million Fantasy Bra. The decision ignited a wave of criticism on social media, with many fans expressing anger and disappointment.

Critics took to platforms like X to voice their objections, with one user stating, "This is UNACCEPTABLE." Another commented, "Victoria Secret truly out of creativity. Most expensive and yet the most basic. And a kardashian/jenner to cheapen it more." The sentiment of being "disappointed" with Jenner's appearance in the bra was echoed by multiple viewers.

The coveted Fantasy Bra, featuring a $22 million yellow diamond centerpiece and adorned with 4,410 additional natural diamonds, has historically been worn by top supermodels and is considered one of the highest honors in the fashion industry. This marked the first time the bra had been featured on the runway since 2018, and Jenner became the first non-Angel to model the piece.

Fans questioned the selection, with one asking, "Out of literally anyone ever why the F**K did they put the fantasy bra on Kylie Jenner." Others suggested it was a demotion for long-standing Victoria's Secret models, with one user writing, "Giving the fantasy bra to Kylie Jenner instead of an OG VS girl?" Another commenter speculated, "kylie jenner must've paid to get the fantasy bra because in what world would she have been picked in 2026."

Additional criticisms focused on the overall production of the show, with one viewer stating, "The victoria's secret show was a damn mess. The lighting was bad, the camera person was all over the place, the performances were for some reason more highlighted than the actual models, and what a slap in the face to the actual VS models to give the fantasy bra to Kylie Jenner."

Victoria's Secret chief creative officer Adam Selman defended the choice in a statement to Vogue, explaining that Jenner was selected because she "really extends beyond fashion, beyond culture, beyond TV, beyond one singular thing." He added that the brand's goal for the show was "fandomonium" and that pairing the Fantasy Bra with an "unexpected talent who has a massive following and massive cultural impact" was intended to be joyful and surprising.

The bra itself, designed by Jacob Arabo, is reportedly made entirely of gold and diamonds with no fabric, presenting significant challenges in achieving a proper fit and ensuring natural movement. "So getting the right fit and making sure it could move naturally with the body was not easy," Arabo told Vogue.

The show, held in Culver City, California, also featured performances by Megan Thee Stallion, Katseye, Megan Moroney, and Tate McRae. Among the models who walked the runway were Gigi and Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, Elsa Hosk, Barbara Palvin, Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, Vittoria Ceretti, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Irina Shayk, and Ashley Graham. The event also saw the runway debut of Victoria's Secret's newest Angel, Solange Omon, discovered through the brand's streaming series "Angels Among Us."

This marked the show's return to Los Angeles for the first time in 19 years and its third year back on the runway following a six-year hiatus that began in 2019. The original show, which debuted in 1995, was canceled amidst criticism regarding the brand's lack of diversity. The 2024 return featured a more inclusive roster of models, including plus-size and transgender models. However, by 2025, the company announced a shift back to its "unapologetically sexy" branding.

Jenner's appearance was supported by her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, and her mother, Kris Jenner, who watched from the front row. Jenner shared her excitement on Instagram Stories, captioning a close-up of her in the bra, "best day ever."
