Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Faces Boycott Calls After Model Rejections
Fans express disappointment and vow to boycott the iconic event after beloved supermodels like Romee Strijd and Frida Aasen were reportedly turned away.
Fans of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show are threatening to boycott the upcoming event following reports that several well-known supermodels were not selected to walk the runway. The iconic show is scheduled to return to Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, October 18, marking its first appearance in the city in 19 years.
Among those reportedly rejected is Dutch supermodel Romee Strijd, who shared her experience on TikTok. Strijd, 31, explained that she had trained for the show over the summer, noting that her body required more effort post-childbirth. She had previously walked in the show from 2014 to 2018. After attending a casting call in September and hearing nothing for weeks, Strijd received a rejection notification. She recounted being told by her agent that she was "great, but they thought you wouldn't fit in the show this year."
Strijd expressed confusion over the exact reasons for her exclusion but stated she had "closed the chapter" on participating in future Victoria's Secret shows, citing dissatisfaction with the process and how she felt treated. She wished to preserve her positive memories of the brand.
Fellow former model Frida Aasen, 31, commented on Strijd's video, sharing her own experience. Aasen, who walked in the show in 2017 and 2018, revealed that she also attended a casting and received a rejection. "It sucks but sending you lots of love," Aasen wrote.
The news of these absences quickly circulated on social media, prompting dozens of fashion enthusiasts to declare they would boycott the show. Comments on social media platforms expressed dismay, with users stating that models like Strijd "ARE the show" and embody "angel energy." Many called the decision "unprofessional" and highlighted their support for the models.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Victoria's Secret for comment on the matter.
