Victoria Beckham Returns to Recording Studio, Teases Collaboration with Son Cruz
The former Spice Girl, 52, was pictured behind a microphone by her son Cruz, 21, fueling fan speculation about new music.
Victoria Beckham has returned to the recording studio, sparking excitement among fans and speculation about a new musical project. Her son, Cruz Beckham, 21, shared a photo on Instagram of his mother singing behind a microphone, captioning it: "yeah we got posh back in the studio ;)"
Cruz further fueled the anticipation by using "Wannabe," the title of the Spice Girls' debut single, as the soundtrack to his post. The image elicited a strong reaction from fans, with one commenting, "Cruz out here doing gods work," and another expressing eagerness to "hear it, even if as a backing vocal." Cruz's girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, added to the intrigue with a teasing emoji.
This marks a return to music for Beckham, 52, who last performed with the Spice Girls during the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony. Her previous official performance with the group was on their 2007-08 world tour. In February, she reunited with bandmates Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Mel C, and Emma Bunton for an Instagram singalong at her London home. However, Beckham had previously stated her focus was on her fashion career and that being in the Spice Girls was only a small part of her life.
Last year, Victoria and Cruz collaborated on an at-home performance of the Spice Girls track "Viva Forever," with Cruz accompanying her on guitar. The video prompted fans to call for a joint release.
Victoria and David Beckham's son Cruz has been actively pursuing his own music career, touring and releasing music with his band The Breakers this year, with his mother frequently attending his shows.
Meanwhile, the Spice Girls recently announced a music box set, "The Singles Collection," to commemorate 30 years since the release of "Wannabe." The collection, available on vinyl and CD from November 6, will include unreleased tracks and demos, along with anniversary messages from each member. This release, however, disappointed fans who had hoped for a reunion tour. Despite the bandmates expressing a desire to mark the milestone, plans for a 30th-anniversary tour were reportedly axed earlier this year due to disagreements. A planned Netflix project celebrating the anniversary was also said to be canceled.
