"The Last of Us" Star Gabriel Luna Teases Shifting Perspectives in Season 3
Filming for the upcoming season of the acclaimed HBO series is underway, with actor Gabriel Luna hinting at significant narrative developments.
Filming for the third season of the HBO series "The Last of Us" is currently in progress, and actor Gabriel Luna has offered a glimpse into what fans can expect. Luna, who plays Tommy in the adaptation of the popular video game saga, suggested that the upcoming season will explore "shifting perspectives."
"This season has been very interesting in the way that a lot of different perspectives shift," Luna told Variety in a recent interview. "Without saying too much, I think folks that were playing the game are aware of that aspect. I just can’t wait for people to see it. We’re shooting it now. I have a little bit of a break."
The first season of "The Last of Us," which premiered in January 2023 and starred Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Pedro Pascal as Joel, received widespread critical acclaim. The series follows the protagonists as they navigate a post-apocalyptic world filled with infected creatures and hostile human survivors.
While season one was lauded for its tone and performances, the second season has been described by some critics as experiencing a decline in quality. The season two finale set the stage for a greater focus on the character of Abby, portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever. Luna’s comments suggest that the narrative will delve deeper into the viewpoints of various characters, a direction that aligns with certain plot points in the video game series.
There is no official release date for "The Last of Us" season three, but it is anticipated to premiere sometime in 2027. The production is ongoing, with Luna and the rest of the cast and crew continuing to film the new episodes.
