Teri Hatcher's 'Devil Wears Prada' Debut Draws Trolls Comparing Her to Nancy Pelosi

Teri Hatcher's recent debut as Miranda Priestly in the West End production of "The Devil Wears Prada" musical has sparked a wave of online criticism, with many fans likening her appearance to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The 61-year-old actress took on the iconic fashion editor role, previously embodied by Meryl Streep in the 2006 film, at London's Dominion Theatre on Tuesday.

Social media users commented that Hatcher's red pantsuit and wig bore a resemblance to Pelosi, with one user writing, "All I see is Nancy Pelosi." Another commenter suggested, "Genuinely thought this was Nancy Pelosi getting her groove on." Some also drew comparisons to Hillary Clinton.

Other critiques focused on the perceived low quality of Hatcher's costume and wig, with one user remarking, "Miranda ordered on Temu," referencing the online retail service. Another commenter stated, "The wig DOES look bad but love you Terri lol," while a different user advised, "I love Teri H but come on, who ever is responsible for these wigs for her and a few others needs sacking, theyre horrendous."

Hatcher replaced Vanessa Williams, who had performed the role for the past two years. The "Desperate Housewives" star is scheduled to play Miranda Priestly for a limited run through February 6, 2027.

Upon her casting announcement, Hatcher expressed enthusiasm for the role, stating, "I’ve been fortunate enough to play some pretty formidable women throughout my career, but very few can compare to THE Miranda Priestly." She added, "I’m absolutely delighted to be joining The Devil Wears Prada in the West End. Miranda is intelligent, commanding, and has a glorious way of putting you in your place while being funny at the same time." Hatcher previously appeared in the national tour of "Cabaret" and played Morticia Addams in "The Addams Family" stage production.
