Executive producer Jamie Lee has extended an open invitation to pop superstar Taylor Swift to visit the set of the Apple TV+ series ‘Ted Lasso.’ The comment comes after the show referenced Swift and her connection to Kansas City in its recently released fourth season premiere.
"We would love it," Lee told Decider at the Season 4 premiere in Los Angeles when asked about the possibility of Swift making an appearance. "Taylor, please, if you’re watching, come hang out in our writer’s room. We’ll give you free almonds if that entices you."
The latest season of ‘Ted Lasso’ sees the AFC Richmond team establishing a women’s football club. In the season’s opening episode, characters travel to Missouri and Kansas, including a stop at a store that gained prominence after Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Kansas City. This visit coincided with Swift’s burgeoning relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who is from the area.
Swift’s connection to Kansas City and London, a key setting for the show, has fueled fan speculation about a potential crossover. While Lee did not confirm if any outreach has been made to Swift or Kelce regarding a cameo, she noted the existing ties between the show's lead actor, Jason Sudeikis, and the couple.
Sudeikis was reportedly seen at Swift and Kelce’s wedding in New York City. His long-standing involvement in charities and fundraisers connected to his hometown teams has led some fans to believe he may have played a role in the couple’s initial connection, given his ties to both the KC sports scene and the entertainment industry.
The first episode of ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 is currently available on Apple TV, with new episodes premiering on Wednesdays.
