Taylor Swift has drawn criticism from some fans regarding the editing of the cover art for her upcoming single, "Patient Zero." The singer, 36, revealed the artwork on Tuesday, showing herself leaning against a concrete wall in a high-neck sleeveless dress. However, internet users quickly pointed out what they perceived as a significant Photoshop or AI editing error, particularly around her underarm and side.

Commenters on social media platform X expressed disappointment with the image quality. One user wrote, "The Photoshop on Taylor Swift's 'Patient Zero' cover is horrendous... girl, you're a billionaire, please get a professional photographer." Another stated, "I'm so sorry but why does the side of her look so poorly edited? It looks way over-airbrushed and almost AI." A third user noted, "No shade, but they edited her armpit to HELL," while adding, "I love Taylor, by the way."

Further critiques included observations of "FaceApp blur," a "badly cropped picture," and a "tilted horizon." One fan commented, "I can edit you better for free on Canvas," lamenting that "They Photoshopped your shoulder out of existence." At 2 p.m. ET, the single cover was revealed. The title "Patient Zero" appears to reference a 2024 LA Times article that described Swift as "patient zero" for emotional contagion. Swift announced the single's release date as September 25 and made three different $3.99 versions of the track available for pre-order, including acoustic and piano versions.

Fans have speculated that "Patient Zero" could be a "sister album" to her previous project, "The Life of A Showgirl," and relate to "the death of a showgirl." Other fan theories ahead of the announcement included predictions of wedding photos or a deluxe version of her latest album. Some interpreted the three zeros in the single's promotion as angel numbers signaling a "new beginning."

Separately, Swift's song "I Knew It, I Knew You" from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack is nominated for Single of the Year at the upcoming Country Music Awards. Swift is expected to attend the CMAs on November 18 in Nashville, marking her first appearance at the event in 10 years. She last attended in 2016 to present Garth Brooks with an award.
