Taylor Swift Reveals Actors' On-Set Argument Over Brendan Fraser Film in 'Patient Zero' Video
Swift shared behind-the-scenes footage showing Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell debating whether Fraser starred in 'Tarzan' or 'George of the Jungle.'

Taylor Swift has offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at her music video for "Patient Zero," revealing the humorous on-set argument between co-stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. The footage, shared exclusively on Apple Music, shows the actors engaged in an intense debate over whether Brendan Fraser played Tarzan or George of the Jungle.
"I'm telling you, Brendan Fraser was Tarzan!" Johnson declared, to which Farrell retorted, "George of the Jungle!" Swift, who directed the video, found the dispute amusing, labeling it "the dumbest fight ever."
The video bundle, released on Saturday, includes the song, the original music video, and an eight-minute expanded version. The "Patient Zero" video premiered at the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday.
Swift, who also helmed the production alongside cinematographer Emmanuel "Chivo" Lubezki, expressed her long-held desire to create the video. "I've been wanting to make this video my entire life," she stated at the beginning of the behind-the-scenes snippet, filmed in March 2025. She even humorously inquired about the VMA release date, joking about needing to get the video on television.
The song itself, featured on the deluxe edition of her album "The Life of a Showgirl," tells the story of a woman who escapes a toxic relationship and then assists her ex's current girlfriend, who is also experiencing a similar situation.
In the "Patient Zero" video, Johnson and Farrell portray a couple whose seemingly perfect relationship unravels to reveal its toxic undercurrents. Swift appears in the video as a spectral figure attempting to warn Johnson of impending danger.
Swift received the inaugural Artist Director Honors award at Sunday's VMAs ceremony. In a subsequent Instagram post, she thanked Johnson and Farrell for their trust and contributions. "Giggling with your friend because you're twinning for an entire shoot was a new and truly delightful experience," Swift wrote about her time with Johnson. She also praised Farrell's portrayal of a villain, calling him "an absolute light and as kind as they come."
Swift further elaborated on her creative vision for the video, stating, "With the 'Patient Zero' video, I got to explore the cinematic and literary genres I love so much. I wanted to incorporate elements of gothic ghost stories, true crime, psychological thrillers all in a setting I hadn't really shot in much."
She concluded her message by thanking the VMAs for providing a world premiere at a venue dedicated to celebrating music videos.
