Taylor Swift premiered the music video for her latest single, "Patient Zero," during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.
The visually striking video stars Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson as a couple embroiled in a tumultuous and passionate relationship. It includes numerous scenes depicting their intense, sometimes violent, romantic dynamic.
Swift herself appears in the video in a spectral role as the former fiancée of Farrell's character. Her character returns to warn Johnson's character about his deceptive nature.
The video also features a scene with a clandestine kiss between Farrell and model Cara Delevingne, who portrays his mistress.
Swift was a prominent nominee at this year's VMAs, receiving nine nominations. Her song "The Fate of Ophelia" was nominated for Video of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and Best Visual Effects. Swift is currently tied with Beyoncé for the most VMA awards ever, with 30 wins each, and has the opportunity to break that record with potential wins from this year's ceremony.
Other major nominees included Madonna, who led the field with 11 nominations, and Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter, who each secured seven nominations.
