Taylor Sheridan Pens 'Sicario 3' Script as Franchise Eyes Return
The acclaimed writer has completed the screenplay for the next installment in the drug cartel thriller series.
Taylor Sheridan, the creative force behind the "Sicario" franchise and the hit series "Yellowstone," has written the script for "Sicario 3." While plot details remain scarce, the project is moving forward, with actor Josh Brolin expected to reprise his role as CIA agent Matt Graver.
The first "Sicario" film, released in 2015, garnered critical acclaim for its dark portrayal of the war against drug cartels. It starred Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin. The sequel, "Sicario: Day of the Soldado," followed in 2018, continuing the storyline with del Toro and Brolin returning.
Rumors of a third film have circulated for some time, gaining momentum earlier this year when Brolin confirmed its development. Sheridan's involvement in penning the script marks a significant step toward bringing the franchise back to the screen. The original "Sicario" grossed nearly $85 million worldwide against a $30 million budget, with its popularity growing in the years following its release.
