Strictly Viewers Praise Johannes Radebe for Presenting Improvement
Fans notice a significant change in the dancer's on-screen delivery following previous critiques.
Strictly Come Dancing star Johannes Radebe received widespread praise from viewers for a noticeable improvement in his presenting skills during Saturday's broadcast. Fans on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) pointed out that Radebe appeared to have heeded feedback from the previous week, where his commentary sometimes overlapped with audience applause as couples ascended to the 'Clauditorium'.
Last week, viewers noted that Radebe, 39, began speaking while the dancers were still making their way to the stage amidst applause, making it difficult for the audience to hear the proceedings. However, in the second week of the competition, Radebe waited for the applause to subside before delivering his remarks, a change that was met with approval.
Comments from viewers included observations such as, "Nice to see they’ve not had JoJo talk over the cheers while the couple was making their way upstairs. That’s an improvement I guess. It feels like they’re listening. A little," and "JoJo 100% waiting for the pros to get upstairs before saying ANYTHING this week."
Despite the positive reception to Radebe's adjusted presenting style, some viewers expressed frustration that the show's producers did not alter the overall trio presenting format. This setup, featuring hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Radebe, had been criticized in the first live show, with Widdicombe in particular being described by some viewers as a "spare part."
Producers maintained the original arrangement for the second week, with Willis and Widdicombe presenting on the floor and Radebe positioned in the 'Clauditorium'. This decision led to further comments on X, with some fans questioning why the show's bosses had not implemented changes based on audience concerns.
One viewer posted, "So they ignored the public and kept Josh downstairs doing his work experience, will Jojo talk while they walk up the stairs?" Another commented, "They’ve not changed the presenting situation then."
Critics and viewers alike had previously questioned the decision to employ three presenters for roles traditionally handled by two, particularly after the first live show saw viewers complain about missed cues and fumbled lines. During the launch episode, the trio rotated positions, with Emma Willis taking Tess Daly's usual spot on the dance floor, while Radebe offered commentary from the 'Clauditorium.' This arrangement left Widdicombe, positioned beside Willis, appearing to some as a "spare part" due to his relative inexperience.
Week two of the competition featured the celebrity contestants performing routines themed around movies. The scores from this week were combined with those from the first week. Australian singer Delta Goodrem and her partner Kai Widdrington secured the top position on the leaderboard with a combined score of 59 points.
