‘Street Fighter’ Movie Now in Theaters, Streaming Release Expected Early 2027

The new "Street Fighter" movie, directed by Kitao Sakurai and written by Sakurai and T. J. Fixman, has premiered in U.S. theaters on Friday, October 16. The film is the third live-action adaptation of the renowned Japanese video game series.

This installment features Andrew Koji as Ryu, a martial artist who is drawn to the dark side after his mentor's murder. Ryu withdraws from the fighting world, leaving behind his adopted brother, Ken Masters, portrayed by Noah Centineo. The narrative centers on their reunion for the second World Warrior tournament in Metrolao City, exploring whether they will compete against each other or unite against a greater adversary.

While the action is designed for the big screen, home viewing options are anticipated. "Street Fighter" is not yet available for streaming or online purchase. As a Paramount Pictures release, it is unlikely to appear on platforms like Netflix. Instead, Paramount films typically debut on the company's own streaming service, Paramount+.

Viewers can eventually expect to buy or rent "Street Fighter" on digital platforms. However, free streaming with a subscription to services like Amazon Prime Video is not expected in the immediate future. Fans looking to watch at home will need to wait for its digital release or its debut on Paramount+.

Paramount+ offers two subscription tiers: Essential, which is ad-supported, and Premium, which is ad-free and includes Showtime content. A seven-day free trial for the Premium plan is currently available.

While an official streaming date for "Street Fighter" on Paramount+ has not been announced, a release in mid-to-late January 2027 is projected. This estimate is based on the release pattern of a previous Paramount film, "Scary Movie" (2026), which became available for digital purchase about a month after its theatrical debut and began streaming on Paramount+ approximately three months later. If "Street Fighter" follows a similar timeline, its digital release could occur in mid-to-late November 2026, with streaming on Paramount+ following in mid-to-late January 2027. It is also noted that Paramount and HBO Max are planning to merge their streaming services.

Until its home release, "Street Fighter" can be seen exclusively in theaters. Showtimes can be found via Fandango.
