‘Steel Ball Run’ Anime Continues on Netflix with New Episodes

Netflix has released new episodes for "STEEL BALL RUN JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," covering the second and third stages of its unique cross-country horse race. This supernatural Western anime, a continuation of the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" series, picks up directly after its March premiere.

The plot follows outcast jockeys Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli as they compete against formidable rivals in the cutthroat Steel Ball Run race. While Gyro Zeppeli initially appeared to win the first stage, event promoter Steven Steel disqualified him due to using his "Steel Ball" weapon to obstruct the course, demoting him 20 places. This elevates Sand Man, Diego Brando, Pocoloco, Mountain Tim, and Johnny Joestar to the top five.

Johnny remains intrigued by Gyro's "Spin" technique, which not only aided Gyro in the first stage but also seemed to help Johnny regain sensation in his legs. The two jockeys form an alliance as they prepare for the next stage, a grueling 750-mile trek across the Arizona desert to Monument Valley.

Meanwhile, cowboy contender Mountain Tim gains prominence after narrowly surpassing Johnny for fourth place in Stage 1. He is subsequently tasked by the Sheriff to investigate a murder that occurred during the race's first leg, seeking to identify a killer among the racers.

The series is noted for its self-aware, energetic presentation, drawing comparisons to "Gintama" and other Wild West-themed anime like "Gun Frontier" and "Appare-Ranman!".

With this new batch of episodes, the series aims for a faster pace, featuring 11 shorter installments. While some details from the manga may have been condensed for the adaptation, the episodes offer ample action and character development.
