The latest installment of “Saturday Night Live UK,” hosted by Cynthia Erivo, has garnered attention for its comedic content, including a parody of the musical “Wicked.” During the “Weekend Update” segment, co-anchors Paddy Young and Ania Magliano directed sharp commentary toward Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan Markle, referencing reports of a child pornography scandal.
In the previous week’s Oct. 17 episode, Magliano also addressed controversial comedian Shane Gillis, who previously hosted the American “Saturday Night Live.” Critics have suggested that “SNL UK” is outperforming its American counterpart, with one publication stating that the U.K. version is “putting the second-rate American original to shame.”
