Singer Sienna Spiro Halts Concert for On-Stage Marriage Proposal

Sienna Spiro paused her concert at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on Wednesday night as a fan proposed to his girlfriend.

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter was performing when a man at the front of the crowd began searching his pockets. Spiro, noticing the gesture, asked if his girlfriend was aware, to which he confirmed she was not.

The man then knelt before his partner as the audience began to cheer. Spiro, initially appearing shocked with her hand over her mouth, approached the couple to ask their names.

"Oh my gosh please say congratulations everybody! This is crazy congratulations to you two, did you know? Did you have any idea?" Spiro said to the crowd. The woman indicated she had no prior knowledge of the proposal.

The man explained he had left the concert briefly to retrieve the engagement ring from their nearby condo.

Taking the microphone, the proposer explained he had left the show mid-concert to retrieve the ring from their nearby condo, telling the crowd, "I acted like I needed a bathroom break and then I just ran! It is such an honour to do it here with you."

Spiro later shared a clip of the moment on her Instagram Story, writing, "I've ALWAYS wanted this to happen." The Ryman Auditorium also shared a video of the proposal, noting, "You never know what a show at the Mother Church has in store for you."

Fans in the comments expressed their delight, with one noting, "What better place to pop the question than at the mother church," referring to the Ryman's nickname, "The Mother Church of Country Music."

The Ryman Auditorium earned its nickname as it was originally built as a place of worship before becoming the home of the Grand Ole Opry.

Earlier this year, Spiro spoke out about mistreatment of women in the music industry, describing it as "just awful" and noting the prevalence of a "boys club."
