Singer Sawyer Hill Cancels Tour After Fatal Bus Crash
The tour bus driver died and several crew members were injured when the vehicle ran off the road in Wyoming.
Singer Sawyer Hill has canceled his "Everybody's Home, Nobody's Happy" tour following a fatal tour bus accident that occurred near the Colorado-Wyoming border on October 14. The bus veered off the road and overturned, resulting in the death of its driver and injuries to several band and crew members.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Hill expressed devastation over the loss of the driver, identified by a family member as David "Rollingcloud" Jackson. "It was a terrifying experience for everyone on board, myself included, and we are devastated to share our driver lost his life," Hill wrote.
According to a family member of the driver, Jackson may have experienced a medical emergency while driving. The family member stated on a fundraising page that Jackson suffered a medical emergency, crossed three lanes of traffic, and the bus rolled. An autopsy revealed that Jackson had already passed away before the crash, and he was pronounced dead on arrival by paramedics.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation. "Out of respect for that process and for our driver and his family, we aren't able to share further details at this time," Hill stated.
Hill explained that after careful consideration, continuing the tour was not feasible. "The focus and priority for my band and crew should be on processing and healing," he said. The singer noted that while the band is working on rescheduling dates, refunds are also available for ticket holders. He concluded his message by thanking fans for their understanding and support.
Jackson, a father of four and grandfather of three, was described as a significant figure in the music industry. His family is seeking donations to help transport his body back to his home in Minnesota from Wyoming.
Fellow musicians and fans have shared tributes to Jackson, remembering his kindness and impact on the music community.
