Singer Mabel Welcomes First Child with Husband Preye Crooks

Singer Mabel has announced the birth of her first child with husband Preye Crooks, revealing the news via a social media post over the weekend.

Mabel, 30, whose mother is singer Neneh Cherry, shared a video on Instagram that featured moments from her pregnancy, including ultrasound scans, culminating with an image of her new baby. Her husband, Preye, celebrated the announcement by captioning a post: "My Two Superstars."

Friends and fellow artists offered their congratulations in the comments section, with singer Ella Eyre writing, "huge congratulations you guys."

The couple married in a London ceremony last July. The wedding, which reportedly cost five figures for venue hire at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Chelsea, hosted around 150 guests. Sources told The Sun that the celebration included champagne and margaritas, with guests such as Miquita Oliver and her mother Andi in attendance. An insider described the event as an "intimate affair initially" followed by a larger celebration, noting that Mabel and Preye "looked so in love."

Preye Crooks, son of former Spurs footballer Garth Crooks, and Mabel, whose full name is Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey, became engaged in November 2024. Mabel shared a video at the time showcasing her diamond engagement ring, which was custom-designed.

Mabel's music career began with her debut single "Finders Keepers" in 2017, which reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart. Her 2019 album, "High Expectations," peaked at number three and was later certified platinum. In 2020, she received a Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist. Her mother, Neneh Cherry, has previously spoken about supporting Mabel's music career, expressing awe at her daughter's focus and dedication. Mabel, however, had previously expressed a desire to establish her career independently, stating in earlier interviews that she felt embarrassed by her parents' fame and worried people wouldn't take her music seriously.
