Sienna Miller Warned She Could Become 'Obsolete' as Actress Over 40

Sienna Miller has revealed that she was warned she could become "obsolete" as an actress upon reaching the age of 40, citing a perceived lack of roles for older women in the industry. Miller shared these concerns in an interview discussing her role in the Sky drama "War," where she portrays a woman navigating a divorce.

Miller noted that other actresses have told her she is "lucky" to be turning 40 now, as they faced significant career difficulties at the same age. "We were obsolete when that happened," she recalled them saying. While reflecting on her career, she also expressed a wish that she had played Juliet, though she conceded that she is likely too old for the role now, suggesting a need for an "older Romeo."

In addition to career anxieties, Miller also disclosed that she was pregnant for the duration of filming "War," reaching 35 weeks by the end of production. She welcomed her third child in April, her second with partner Oli Green, with whom she became engaged two months later. Miller is also mother to a 14-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

The actress described the filming process as challenging due to her pregnancy, involving long days that often required her to leave and return home in the dark. Co-star Phoebe Fox was also pregnant during the shoot, and her pregnancy was incorporated into the plot. Miller joked about sharing snacks with Fox between takes.

Miller has previously spoken about the physical and mental toll of continuous pregnancy and breastfeeding. She has humorously described feeling like a "lactating heifer" and struggling with her changing body, stating that she has "completely lost my fashion sense" and feels she has sacrificed her identity to motherhood. She admitted to being so sleep-deprived that she questions who she is and struggles to dress herself.

She recounted an instance where she felt overwhelmed by the demands of traveling with her toddler and newborn, breaking down at an immigration line due to exhaustion. Miller also mentioned seeking fashion advice from model Alexa Chung, her ex-partner's current partner, for events.

Earlier in the year, Miller appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" just three weeks after giving birth. During the interview, she admitted that motherhood was exhausting and that stringing sentences together felt challenging due to lack of sleep, though she expressed being "madly in love with my baby."
