Sienna Miller Says Fiancé Proposed in Central Park Post-Birth
Actress reveals Oli Green proposed shortly after she gave birth to their second child, catching her off guard.
Sienna Miller has shared details of her engagement to fiancé Oli Green, revealing he proposed during a walk in Central Park shortly after she gave birth to their second child together. The actress, 44, and the model, 29, confirmed their engagement in June after four years of dating.
Appearing on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Miller said Green popped the question the day after her previous appearance on the show on May 14, which was three weeks after she had given birth. She described the moment, saying, "[We] went for a walk in Central Park, popped the old question."
Miller admitted she was unprepared for the proposal, particularly given her postpartum state. "I was not looking my best," she told Fallon, describing her appearance as "full postpartum beauty" with "greasy hair" and stains on her T-shirt. She confessed she had a feeling something was up but hoped it wouldn't happen at that moment, recounting her internal plea: "Please God, not now."
She recalled feeling awkward during the walk before the proposal. "Suddenly, chat, chat and then quiet and a bit sweaty-palmed. I was like, 'Please God no.' I was like, 'Ooo this is romantic,'" she said, recalling Green's attempt to distract her by pointing out "the birds."
Miller also shared the story of how she and Green first met. "When we met, we didn't get together. And then seven years later at the same Halloween party, it was where we first smooched," she explained, clarifying a point of confusion for Fallon. She noted the serendipitously met Green at a Halloween party years ago while dressed as David Bowie, and they reconnected at the same event seven years later.
Miller and Green welcomed their second child together earlier this year. The actress also has a 14-year-old daughter, Marlowe, from her previous relationship with Tom Sturridge.
Speaking about her recent postpartum experience, Miller told Vogue that having another baby later in life was a "bonus" and left her feeling "euphoric" and "existentially relieved." She contrasted this with her first experience of motherhood with Marlowe, which she found challenging, noting that there was "wasn't as much focus on postpartum then."
Following an emergency C-section with her first daughter and a difficult postpartum period she felt she had "failed," Miller aimed for a natural labor with her third child, a decision she described as "kind of unheard of – especially after two C-sections." She succeeded in having a natural birth with the help of the Gentle Birth Method, which combines self-hypnosis, visualization, and Ayurvedic teachings.
Despite her preparation for a natural birth and postpartum care, Miller expressed regret about returning to work so soon after welcoming her latest child. "It was all too much. I thought I could manage it, but it was just complicated and hard," she stated, reflecting on her appearance on "The Tonight Show" just five weeks after giving birth.
