Si King Continues to Grieve Dave Myers Two Years After Death

Hairy Bikers star Si King is still grappling with the death of his close friend and television partner, Dave Myers, two years after Myers passed away at the age of 66. Myers died in February 2024 following a two-year battle with cancer, which he had publicly disclosed in May 2022.

In a recent interview on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, King, 59, shared that he remains "pretty angry" about Myers' death and recalled his initial "disbelief" upon hearing the diagnosis. King described grief as "nuanced" and acknowledged he is still in the "early stages" of processing his loss, admitting, "I'm still pretty angry about him buggering off really."

King explained that his personal journey with Myers' illness was private and different from what others observed. He recounted the moment Myers told him about his cancer diagnosis while King was driving on the A1. "I've got cancer, King," Myers had said, to which King's immediate thought was about how they could work around treatment schedules. "Well, you know, we'll see. We'll work it out, man. We'll work it out," King recalled telling his friend, focusing on a practical response amidst the shock.

He described the situation as "surreal" and admitted he didn't always know what to say. King stated that Myers and his family were determined to fight the illness, and his role as a friend was to "support that endeavour." He emphasized that his personal approach to the illness was secondary to supporting his friend's choices.

Continuing as a duo without Myers has been challenging for King, given their many years working together and considering each other in their endeavors. Recently, King revealed he has found a new partner after the profound loss of Myers. He had previously considered withdrawing from public life, feeling lost after his friend's passing.

Speaking to The Sunday Times magazine, King shared that he initially wanted to be left alone. However, he has now found happiness with a woman named Milly, though he has shared few details about her. King expressed his delight, stating, "She is a very special lady. She really is. I'm very happy. It's been wonderful and continues to be wonderful." He also mentioned that his sons and ex-wife Jane are supportive of his new relationship.

King was married to Jane Dodd for 27 years before their separation in 2016, attributing the breakdown to the demands of his career and frequent absences. They have three sons together: Alex, James, and Dylan. Reflecting on his past, King acknowledged, "It's about being present, and I think for very many years I wasn't present. And my home life suffered."

When asked about his current well-being, King stated, "I'm all right. I mean, look, it's challenging and I continue to work probably too hard, but I kind of don't know what else to do."
