Shaughna Phillips Contrasts Victoria's Secret Model's Postpartum Recovery with Her Own Reality

Shaughna Phillips, known for her appearance on Love Island, has offered a starkly realistic depiction of her postpartum experience, contrasting it with the swift return to the runway by Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin.

Palvin recently walked in the Victoria's Secret Show just six weeks after welcoming her daughter, Sylvie, with her husband Dylan Sprouse. Palvin attributed her quick recovery to a healthy, organic diet during pregnancy and light exercise and breastfeeding postpartum, stating she felt she had "never been healthier."

Phillips, who welcomed her second daughter, Sofia, in October, shared a series of unfiltered images on her Instagram account, showcasing a different aspect of postpartum recovery. Her posts included photos of her makeup-free, asleep, holding her newborn in pajamas, and a picture of her swollen ankle and foot taken a week after giving birth. She also recounted managing only "2 hair washes" in the six weeks following her delivery.

Phillips urged women not to be discouraged by the seemingly effortless physiques of public figures like Palvin or Kylie Jenner after childbirth. "It is genuinely mystifying how incredible they look, but if that isn’t your post partum reality, please don’t let it get you down," Phillips wrote.

Fans responded positively to Phillips' candidness, with many expressing gratitude for the relatable content. Comments included "Realness" and messages from women sharing their own struggles with body image and recovery months or years after giving birth.

Earlier in the year, Phillips had also spoken about her own postpartum fitness journey, sharing a comparison of her progress 10 months after her first birth. At that time, she stated she was prioritizing strength and health over achieving a specific weight or size, aiming to be "strong over skinny" and healthy over being "as small as I possibly could."
