Seven Finalists Emerge in "The Celebrity Traitors" Penultimate Episode
A dramatic night saw betrayals, banishments, and unexpected confessions leading to the final round.
The penultimate episode of "The Celebrity Traitors" has narrowed the field to seven finalists following a night filled with dramatic twists. Viewers witnessed the downfall of James Acaster, the elimination of Sharon Rooney, and the banishment of Joanne McNally.
As a result of these departures, the contestants advancing to the final episode include Maya Jama, King Kenny, Sebastian Croft, James Blunt, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Michael Sheen, and Romesh Ranganathan. Host Claudia Winkleman gathered the remaining celebrities at Ardross Castle to acknowledge their progress, hinting at further betrayals to come.
"The Traitors are thirsty for blood. There will be one final murder tonight," Winkleman stated, advising the contestants to "enjoy your drinks and sleep well, if you can."
Shifting Alliances and Unexpected Confessions
The episode culminated with Maya Jama and Michael Sheen as the last two remaining. Sheen expressed suspicion towards Jama, contemplating his own fate in the competition. Meanwhile, the Faithfuls' suspicions turned towards Jama, particularly after James Acaster's unexpected banishment.
Acaster's exit was a significant moment, as he revealed himself as a Traitor during the roundtable. He explained that he had been made a Traitor against his will and expressed his desire to have been a Faithful throughout the game. Filming was paused briefly due to Acaster's anxiety before he delivered his speech.
"I am, reluctantly, a Traitor," Acaster told the group, admitting that a "weight has been lifted off his shoulders." He had previously confided in Winkleman that his sole intention was to be a Faithful and help identify the Traitors.
Strategic Murders and Banishments
The Traitors' strategy came under scrutiny earlier in the episode when they decided to eliminate Sharon Rooney. This move was considered risky, especially as Rooney had already faced suspicion at the previous roundtable. Maya Jama acknowledged the gamble, stating, "This could actually ruin all of our futures," while James Acaster added, "This is a risky move, but I'm proud of us that we are taking such a big gamble at this point."
Faithful contestant Joanne McNally was also banished from the castle following a cliffhanger from the previous week.
