Selena Gomez Warns Fans About Permanent Voice Change From Vaping

Selena Gomez has revealed that her past nicotine vaping habit has permanently altered her voice, using her experience as a cautionary tale for fans.

In a video shared on her Instagram Story, Gomez, 34, stated, "I'm not going to be able to change my voice." She elaborated, "I vaped nicotine, a lot."

The "Only Murders in the Building" star emphasized that her vaping days came at a cost and urged her followers, particularly those considering vaping for the first time, to heed her warning. "Everyone knows – that's somewhat vaped – nicotine is so hard to quit," she said. "And I think I just wanted to say, if you're going through it, or if you are even trying to vape, it's just not worth it."

Gomez acknowledged the potential impact on listeners, adding, "And it's changed my voice. So, if you guys don't like listening to my voice that's totally understandable I don't mind, just don't listen to it. Just don't listen."

Despite the lasting change to her voice, Gomez expressed positivity about her decision to quit and offered a message of encouragement to those battling their own challenging habits. "But I am really excited because I stopped, and I just hope we can keep it up. It's really hard, but I know if you are going through something you can get through it too. It sucks."

This candid confession follows years of Gomez openly discussing her health journey. In 2014, she entered a mental health facility after being diagnosed with lupus, and she later revealed a bipolar disorder diagnosis. She has spoken about her struggles with lupus, a kidney transplant, chemotherapy, mental illness, and public heartbreaks.

Gomez's documentary "My Mind & Me," released in 2022, chronicled six years of her life, career, and mental health challenges. In 2020, she launched her beauty brand, Rare Beauty, which includes the Rare Impact Fund dedicated to supporting mental health services.
