Sebastian Croft Reveals School Bullying After Being Outed as Gay
The 'Celebrity Traitors' and 'Heartstopper' star detailed his difficult school experience, which led him to leave education at 16.
Sebastian Croft, known for his roles in "Celebrity Traitors" and Netflix's "Heartstopper," has shared his experiences of being bullied and ostracized at boarding school after being outed as gay. The 24-year-old actor recounted that the turmoil during his school years was so severe that he quit education at the age of 16.
Croft described his time at a private boarding school in Oxfordshire as "a weirdly old-school experience." He revealed that a secret relationship with a male classmate led to him being outed. "I don't blame the other boy who did it, because he was obviously just also trying to navigate the fact that he was getting chipped for being gay," Croft told The i Paper. "But it was a really lonely and difficult time in my life."
He explained the stark contrast between his life as an actor and his school experience. "I would leave school and be an actor and be doing the thing I loved the most, and be with other like-minded people, and feel so liberated in myself, and then I go back to school and be bullied and ostracised," he said.
Before his prominent roles, Croft began his acting career on stage as a child. He made his television debut playing a young Ned Stark in "Game of Thrones." His other acting credits include "Horrible Histories: The Movie," and the film "How to Date Billy Walsh."
In other "Celebrity Traitors" news, viewers have been dissecting the game's strategy, with many convinced that contestant Ross Kemp is close to uncovering the identity of the "Traitors." Specific attention has been paid to attempts by contestants Maya Jama and James Acaster to make fellow players yawn as a game tactic, a move many viewers found "ridiculously obvious."
