Locations in the northeast of Scotland that served as filming sites for the recent blockbuster "The Odyssey" are now being showcased to encourage tourism. An online map has been launched to guide visitors to these scenic spots, which have garnered international attention through their appearance in the film.

Filming took place in areas including Aberdeenshire and Moray. Notable locations featured in the movie are Findlater Castle and Sunnyside Beach in Aberdeenshire, and Culbin Forest and Culbin Sands in Moray. These sites provided the backdrop for scenes in the film, adapted from Homer's ancient Greek poem.

Councillor John Cowe, leader of Moray Council, expressed delight at the region's feature in the highly anticipated film. He stated that "The Odyssey" will introduce a global audience to the landscapes of Moray. "The stunning setting of Culbin Forest and Culbin Sands provided the perfect backdrop for this epic story, and we are proud that our coastline helped bring one of literature’s greatest adventures to life on the big screen," Cowe remarked.

"The Odyssey" is the latest directorial effort from Christopher Nolan, whose previous film, "Oppenheimer," won the Academy Award for best picture. The film follows the journey of Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, as he returns home after the Trojan War.

Actor Matt Damon, who portrays the titular character, praised the Moray coast as "beautiful" after filming there. Similarly, Councillor Judy Whyte, Provost of Aberdeenshire Council, highlighted the importance of attracting film and television projects for the economic well-being of local towns and villages.

To coincide with the film's release, various activities are planned across the region. These include guided walks, special screenings, and competitions, all designed to capitalize on the interest generated by "The Odyssey."
