Sarah Paulson Honors Late Friend Diane Keaton One Year After Her Passing

Sarah Paulson paid tribute to her late friend Diane Keaton on Sunday, marking the one-year anniversary of the beloved actress's death. Paulson, 51, shared a photograph of herself with Keaton and Keaton's daughter, Dexter Keaton White, 30, on Instagram, expressing her grief.

"One year. Impossible," Paulson wrote. "Laughing with you will always be what I remember most. I love you."

Paulson and Keaton first met while filming the 1999 movie "The Other Sister," in which Paulson played the daughter of Keaton's character. Paulson described Keaton as "the most generous, just playful, fun, alive performer" and credited her with teaching her "the power of beats in a scene."

"She really took me under her wing and we've been really good friends ever since," Paulson told The Hollywood Reporter shortly after Keaton's death at age 79 from bacterial pneumonia. "She's a filmmaker as well. She's a fashion icon. She's an absolute iconoclast. And I feel very lucky to call her a dear friend."

Keaton's daughter Dexter also shared a tribute on Instagram, posting a black-and-white photo of herself with her mother from her 2021 wedding. "One year without you, mom," Dexter wrote. "It somehow feels like yesterday and forever ago all at once. I’m still trying to get used to a world where I can’t call you, have you there for a hug, or go on adventures with you."

Dexter noted that it is "the everyday moments" that remind her how much she wishes her mother were still present. She concluded her emotional post by saying, "I love you and I miss you. Always."

Keaton, who died at 79, was known for her iconic roles in films such as "Annie Hall," "The Godfather," and "The First Wives Club." She adopted Dexter in 1996 and her son Duke in 2001. The actress received four Academy Award nominations, winning Best Actress for her role in "Annie Hall."
