Sai De Silva Reveals Marriage Ended After Husband Made Her Pay For Her Own Birthday Dinner
The "Real Housewives of New York" star described the moment she realized her marriage to David Craig was over, stemming from a birthday celebration in late 2025.
Sai De Silva, a star of "The Real Housewives of New York" (RHONY), has shared the specific moment she understood her marriage to David Craig had reached its end. Craig filed for divorce in April after nearly nine years of marriage. De Silva, 45, recounted the events during a recent episode of RHONY, pinpointing her birthday in November 2025 as the turning point.
De Silva explained that in the months leading up to her birthday, she felt a growing disconnect from Craig, noting that they had not been on a date in a significant period. She initially saw his offer to take her to an expensive restaurant for her birthday as an opportunity to rekindle their relationship.
"He takes me to a very expensive restaurant, and we had a beautiful time. We came home. We had amazing sex. Everything was great," De Silva recalled. "I was like, 'Okay, all right, I feel this.'"
However, her perspective shifted dramatically after the celebration. While reviewing credit card statements, she discovered that the birthday dinner had been charged to her own card. "I started looking at all the credit card bills [afterwards], only to realize the dinner is on my credit card," she stated. "I said, 'David! You made me pay for my own dinner? My own birthday dinner?' And that’s when I knew… What’s left?"
De Silva and Craig first met in 2009 in Costa Rica. They have two children, daughter London, 15, and son Rio, eight. The couple married in June 2017.
Following the news of their split in April, De Silva posted a statement on Instagram, emphasizing her commitment to her children. "My heart is with my children, and my focus is on giving them as much stability and love as possible," she wrote. "Living life publicly isn't always easy, but it's a reminder that we should all lead with compassion. You never really know what someone is navigating behind the scenes."
De Silva joined the cast of the Bravo series when it was rebooted in 2022, appearing in its 14th season. While her career keeps her in the public eye, Craig has maintained a private life, acting as a stay-at-home father. De Silva previously wrote on her blog, Scout the City, that Craig values his privacy, stating, "He's my perfect guy who loves his privacy and I respect that. He's supportive, encouraging and always by our side."
