Sabrina Carpenter Responds to Madonna's VMA Acceptance Speech Joke
Carpenter playfully clarified her team's responsiveness after Madonna humorously called out the five-day wait for a response during their shared award acceptance.
Sabrina Carpenter addressed Madonna's playful jab about her team's response time during their joint acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. Madonna had humorously noted a five-day delay in hearing back from Carpenter's team regarding their collaboration, "Bring Your Love," before taking matters into her own hands.
"Five days," Madonna said onstage, eliciting audible reactions from the audience. She continued, "I DM’d her. This is a true story — she answered me back, and within weeks we were in the studio together." Madonna then complimented Carpenter, stating, "I love working with you because you are so professional, and in this day and age, it’s really hard to find professional people to work with."
Carpenter, in turn, defended her team while maintaining a lighthearted tone. "My team is shitting themselves backstage," she said, a comment that was bleeped out during the broadcast. She then clarified, "My team replies, just so everybody knows. They do respond to people, but I respond faster. So direct line to me is always the best way to get in contact."
The exchange concluded with Madonna embracing Carpenter, and Carpenter playfully encouraging the audience to applaud the music icon. The two artists then left the stage together.
